Elton John and his partner, David Furnish, are new parents once again. The 65 year old pop star welcomed his new son via surrogate on Friday, January 11th amidst speculation about whether or not the duo had a second child or not. As it was, the news had been prematurely released on January 10th, causing their rep to have to put out hundreds of media fires through announcements that the couple had NOT had a child.
Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John was born the very next day on Friday, weighing 8lbs, 4 oz. Part of his name, "Daniel", is in reference to Elton's song "Daniel my brother". His older brother (born via the same surrogate on Christmas Day, 2010), was named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, "Levon" in reference to the Elton John song by the same name.
Elton and David have sold exclusive rights to their newborn son's story to HelloOnline.com. Via the website, Elton said, "Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable. The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."
