Conversation, ideas and events for parents in Santa Rosa and Sonoma County

Valentine's Day is almost here!  To celebrate, here are a few crafty ideas for you and your child!

The Shirley's created an adorable Valentine's card using their children's handprints.  Around the edges of the card, they wrote messages of love.  Then they passed them out to the grandparents as a memorable keepsake.

Martha Stewart shared a craft that involved crayon shavings a wax paper.  Place the crayon shavings between two pieces of wax paper.  Iron the wax paper until all the shavings are melted, then let cool. Once it's cool, cut out different sized hearts and attach strings.  Hang from the window so that the sun can shine through.

The Artful Parent shared this rockin' idea for Valentine's Day - a rock!  Glue a heart shape on an ordinary rock with regular craft glue, then sprinkle with glitter.  The result is extraordinary!

This year I'm looking for non-edible gifts to give my kids on Valentine's morning.  That's why I love this crafty tic-tac-toe gift that eighteen25 shared on her blog.  All it takes is a wooden slide box and wooden hearts (easily found at Michaels), white/pink/red paint, glitter glue, chalkboard paint, and chalk.

For giving Valentine's, this is an adorable idea from Say Yes to Hoboken for envelopes made out of heart doilies.
