The rides are already being built in anticipation for the start of the fair happening next week. You can almost smell the fried onion rings, turkey legs, and cow manuer!
I love the Flower Garden! It's like stepping into a whole other world. It feels nice and cool in there (which is especially nice during a hot, sticky day at the fair), and it smells like wonderful earth. And the displays! The kids and I look forward to it every year!

The Flower Garden! There isn't one like it at any other fair!
Our favorite part is going to see the animals that the 4-Hers and FFA are showing. Because we attend 4-H camp every year, a lot of people we know are involved in this side of the fair. And it's interesting to see what kids are truly capable of. It's not uncommon for a kid under the age of 10 to be leading a steer twice their size around a ring to be judged, or for a youngster to be auctioning off the animal they have raised from a baby. There's a lot of work involved in raising an animal, and that's truly apparent when you see kids camping out at the fair for one or two weeks so that they can care for their animal while showing it. Many of these kids are working all year long in anticipation for the So Co Fair.
