Conversation, ideas and events for parents in Santa Rosa and Sonoma County

The Sonoma County Adult and Youth Development (SCAYD) is in the midst of their 8th annual Winter Warmth Coat Drive and Giveaway. They are accepting donations of winter coats, jackets, and scarves at any of the Rohnert Park Starbucks locations. You can also drop off jackets at the SCAYD, located at 7345 Burton Ave. in Rohnert Park, behind the old Mountain Shadows Middle School.

This Friday, January 11 at 1:30 p.m., they will distribute the jackets from their facility to those in need. The event will go on until 4 p.m., or until the coats are gone.  If you or anyone in your family are need of a winter coat and have been going without because of expenses, I urge you to attend this event and grab something warm to wear for free.

This morning in the newspaper, there were reports that shelters are filling up, and there is a waiting list for many to have a warm place to sleep. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to have to spend night after night in the freezing cold we've been having lately! A warm jacket could help ease that discomfort, even if just a little.
