Rohnert Park teachers hurt by a word
It has come to my attention the use of a word in my recent letter to the editor (Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010) may have caused unintended hurt feelings among members of a specific audience: teachers.
After being told the Rohnert Park School District is considering limiting the number of students able to transfer out of the district, I wrote, my choices of schools for my daughter would become “The rudimentary neighborhood school where my daughter is lost in a sea of children after budget…

Help a single dad who recently lost his wife to breast cancer
Mary Karanasos died this past September a week after her 45th birthday. When her breast cancer was diagnosed last January, the disease had already metastasized into her lymph nodes, bones, liver and lungs. That's the cold summary about the end of this sweet woman's life. Wasting RP School Money and the Blame Game
I’m trying. I’m really trying to give the Rohnert Park School District the benefit of the doubt with respect to their latest recommendations regarding the “in the bag” vote to close Mountain Shadows Middle School. If closing Mountain Shadows is what’s necessary to keep the school district afloat, then, so be it. Can I find a job after being my kids' personal assistant?
I have two kids and a master's degree from Stanford (not the kids, just the master’s). Those are two contradictory items in my life...it would appear.
I used to work outside of the home. I liked it. Loved it, actually, when I was a newspaper reporter and ran off in the middle of the night to a flood or fire or the guy who shot himself in his garage.
